You may be resistant to the antibiotic prescribed...fire example I'm resistant to penicillin, it just fits but work for me, so the doc had to prescribe me something else. I never had mastitis before and I like the natural remedies other moms are suggesting, but if the meds you are taking are not working, contact your doc and ask for a different kind.
Had it twice and I breastfed each and every time. Antibiotics were horrible with side effects. What worked is cabbage leaves. I took a big leaf and where the middle heavy line is I trimmed tiny bit of top layer to open to cabbage juices. And warmed mine tiny but up in microwave. Put it over couple times for couple hours. And I actually was better in 2 days. Only I reacted and burnt my milk. Lost weight immediately too. So because I wanted to breastfeed than I took fenugreek capsules and what not to return milk. Apparently, cabbage really works for some. My friend was done breastfeeding and dried up her milk on purpose this way. Blessings
Hot or ice cold cabbage leaves work s treat!
Tylenol and ibuprofin for the pain and swelling. Fill the sink with hot water and soak your breasts for at least 5 minutes before pumping or breastfeeding. Massage your breast while pumping or breastfeedding will hurt but it will help.
Idk wat happened i answered on another post but dont see it now? Lol. Anyways in case u didnt see it. Sounds like u need to release some pressure. It will hurt but get in hot shower and massage breasts under hot water for a few mins. Get out and apply cold cabbage leaves to breasts. If u want sleep with them on. Cabbage will help dry that excess milk up. Take tylenol n take care
I got mastitis with my first and I had to pump and feed my baby with a tube on my finger until I healed. I just needed an antibiotic if I remember correctly and I called my OB and he phoned it in, I ended up continuing to breastfeed until my baby was 6 months old.
I had mastitis a while ago while breastfeeding, it was painful but what helped me was that I was in fact breastfeeding. Also I would put warm cloths and try to massage it as much as I could tolerate. I was also prescribed antibiotics.
