positive for group B strep

FTM! So I was just told I tested positive for group B strep. All the doctor said was not to worry and that I'd get antibiotics during labor. But I went online to see what it is and I'm freaking out! I don't understand how I got it :( and I'm so scared my baby will get the infection :'(

Cecilia_morgan They don't treat you once you test positive. They treat you once you go into labor.

Ok :-) yea just reread about it it can come and go so you don't always test positive. Id worry though if you've tested positive once that means your more likely to get off and on positives. So if they treat you between 35_37 weeks how do they know before you go into labor if it hasn't come back? Im going to have to ask my doc that one bc now im curious ab that.

Idk. I just no my first doctor took her time and explained it to me and told me that just because I have it doesn't mean that I'll have it with my next. She said I may or may not. When this new doctor tested me he said I didn't have it.

Uhm question mommieagain I was under the impression it never guess away bc there is no permanent cure for it. Antibiotics only v temporarily fight it off making it safe for baby to come thru birth canal.

No your baby will be fine. You'd be shocked if you knew how many ppl test positive for it. It's ridiculous. I have no idea how I got it either. Really not a big deal though. Im.just sick of no one's doc going into any details ab it bc then we mom's go and look things up and freak our selves out for no reason. Did that my first as well. Btw hell be three in nov and is perfectly fine lol. They hook you up to iv antibiotics during labor bam np. All is well. :-) no worries dear.
