I went cold turkey with my first child...worst mistake ever! The pain was terrible, So bad the drs prescribed me pain killers to get me through it. I highly recommend the cabbage and a slow gradual stop, pumping less and less each day..Enough to make you comfortable but not completely empty so your body will reabsorb the milk and stop producing. Good luck.
Peppermint helps tons. Peppermint essential oil in coffee or tea is amazing just make sure it can be ingested some oils are for topical use only. But it would work topically to just rub directly on your chest. Its cool and soothing too when you are engorged.
Cabbage leaves in your bra help too, just change when they wilt. Also some health food stores carry no more milk teas. Good luck!
Thanks. I wasn't sure if I could pump due to making my body think it needed to make more. I'm right on it, thanks! :)
I went to a class just today. You have to pump from what was said to get enough milk out to get relief. This will occur until your body realizes that it doesn't need as much of a supply. If you still want to use breast milk you can pump and store it in the freezer up to a year. The fridge up to 5 days.
