pre-term labor

Yesterday was my 28th week checkup and my doctor informed me that I tested positive for going into pre-term labor. Now I know what pre-term labor is but does that also mean my pregnancy is now high risk?

At the moment I would say they prob class you as high risk pregnancy only because of having contractions. The test looks for a hormone in which your body releases around the cervix when preparing for Labour. but not classed as high risk labour. Even though I had my Dr at 24 weeks her labour was never high risk and completely natural.
Are you still working or been told to rest?

Like the poster above said,  it's a fetal fibronectin test. My Dr told me that a negative results means there's 99% chance that you will NOT go into labor within the next 2 weeks.   A positive result indicates a 17% chance of going into labor.   So just because it's positive doesn't mean you'll go into labor.

The test is called a foetal fibronectin test (I had it at 24wks because my first daughter was born at 24wks! Weighing 1lb9oz - a perfectly healthy 5yr old now) if negative then you will not have your baby within the next 10ish days however if positive you could go into Labour tomorrow or it could be up to 5wks from now. They should have started you on steroids and tablets to stop labour
Good luck!

I didn't know they tested for pre-term labor I was having cramps with pressure in my lower back so they told me to come in and get checked they did a swab and a Urine sample not sure which one could determine pre-term labor but he said instead of me coming every two weeks he wants to see me every week... Be did not say anything about bed rest so not sure if I'm high risk or not.... I couldn't imagine being in the hospital that long I would die good luck to you I pay everything goes well
