Things i wish id known before i had my baby.

My baby is almost 4 weeks now and I've pretty much recovered fully but the beginnings weren't easy and I wish people had told me a few things to be prepared for not just the usual get as much sleep as you can coz when the baby arrives you wont be sleeping. In fact I've been sleeping much better now than when I was pregnant!! So a bit of advice especially to FTMs: 1 you're going to bleed a lot at first and passing fairly large clots in the first few days is normal so don't freak out when you see/feel one drop into the toilet in the middle of the night. My bleeding stopped after 2 weeks or so. 2 if you had stitches you're going to be sore down there for a while but don't stress and get some pain killers and lots of rest. The pain will be gone soon. About 2 weeks in my case. 3 if you're breadtfeeding, you're nipples are going to be sore as hell probably crack and bleed a little but that's apparently normal too. Also the baby and you need to learn the proper latch  on position and that will come with time so don't worry you're not doing it wrong you're both learning and before you know it breastfeeding will be so easy and so rewarding. As long as youre babys poo is runny and yellow youre doing a great job even if you think the baby is not eating enough. They dont need to feed for 30 min or so at a time as some books would have you believe. 10 min is enough. 4 Babys poo is very runny and explosive at times so be prepared and make sure you have the right size nappies that fit snug around the legs. 5 Baby's sneeze a lot not because they're getting sick but because they need to clear their airways. 6 always remind yourself you're an awesome mom and the baby thinks the world of you. Just keep doing what feels right for you and know that things will get much easier very quickly. Good luck
