I'm 19 weeks and am seeing both a midwife and a doctor. I prefer the holistic approach and want to give birth at home if possible. Because of my health history I am concerned that I could become high-risk so that's why I have the Dr. as well. He was recommended by the midwife so I am still getting a more personal, natural approach and will have more delivery options than just "lie back and push" if I'm unable to deliver outside of a hospital. Do you trust our western medicine extensively or do you like natural answers? That's the biggest part of the decision aside from your risk factor.
Well then I shall stick to a Dr lol... just hope I get a good one
I just saw where out are having a C-section. Most midwives...if any of them... won't even see you. They only do low risk natural births any complications or surgery they don't do.
I love my midwife, by I see the doctor too...in the practice you are both of their patient. And if any problems or complications occure then you see mainly Dr.
Well this is my 4th and it will be a 4th c section. So I kinda want a Dr , right now the midwife thing just seems weird. I can change it right? Also I previously had 2 miscarriages soo maybe a Dr would better idk....
I know that a lot of midwives don't check for dialation until you have contractions. ..If that's a big deal to you...get a regular dr.
I loved my dr.
I think with a midwife, you have more options of how and where you give birth.
I had a Dr for my first hated it...he didn't even deliver my daughter.... With my second I had a midwife and personally it was the best experience I've ever had... This baby I tried an obgyn and I don't like him.... I called the midwives office last week... There are pros and cons to both I guess... But personally I like midwives.... They make it personal.... And they support you and don't look down on you
For me, I've learnt its a matter if you want a medical approach or a holistic approach. As I'm high risk I'm happy with the medical approach and am going with an OB.
