puppy on tummy?

My 19 pd. puppy likes to sit on my lap and sometimes he will walk on it. . And I'm trying to teach him not too and I Try to protect my tummy but the little bugger will do it every now and then. He's just over a year and gets very excited Sometimes. My question is will this hurt my baby or is the baby pretty protected in there?  I'm 11 weeks.  :)

Omgosh! So adorable!!! Try to make sure whichever female you breed him to hasn't been overbred or anything. Some people will breed them just to sell pups and end up hurting those poor babies :(
Good luck on his training though! The key is finding the one treat he absolutely can't live without and would commit murder for. ;) lol. Find out what that is and his training will be a breeze.

Haha yeah pugs are cute!  He is a black pug too and soo shiny. I swear he has a.d.d Sometimes lol. He is my busy boy. My vet just talked to us about testicular cancer so we might get him fixed Cuz of that or breed him.. Not sure yet. He is a very handsome pug so I think he would make some cute puppies.

Pugs were bred to be lap dogs for Chinese royalty and tobbe very dependent.  A full grown pug wouldn't hirt your baby layin on it but pouncing probably would. Those dogs have so much of that dependent personality bred into them though that they can literally die of lonliness if they're left with no one around for a week or more. It's crazy. I used to have one named Molly but had to give her up one of the last times we moved. Super smart but not much of an attention span for sure and notorious for over eating if you don't watch them. Snipping a male will sometimes calm them down but not all the time and a lot of vets push for fixing pugs a lot bc they are prone to testicular cancer and other problems due to major inbreeding just to get their personality and look. I get mine snipped as a safety things. With so many puppy mills around I'd hate for someone to steal my dog and use them like that. So I spay and neuter all my pets. It's to keep stray pets down too in case they ever ran off or someone tempted them away. Not everyone likes it but I try to do my part. If it were legal to do it to people I can think of a few who'd be first on my list. Lol!!!!
Anyway, a professional trainer would definitely be able to help your pup. Especially with a baby being born you don't want him to end up hurting it on accident just bc of poor puppy manners. At least he's already good with babies and kids. Huge bonus there. :P I love pugs. My hubby thinks they're ugly but I just wanna snuggle them all day! :D

Wow that is awesome. I'm trying to train him but he is very high strung.  It was worse in the winter Cuz I wasnt able to walk him and he had pent up energy. He is getting better now Cuz I walk him everyday but he is still just crazy. He is a pug. .I dunno if the breed has anything to do with it and he still has his jewels lol which I've heard If we got him fixed he would calm down but my husband does not want to do that. . I think it's a guy thing lol. I hope I can get him trained a little bit better before baby comes.  He is potty trained which is awesome lol.

My CockerPooh likes to lay on my tummy but not all 30 lbs of him just his head or head & paws. When he used to feel the baby move he had a low growl, as the baby got bigger he started to swat at my tummy like a game now he's just grateful there is still a little room left.

Yeah. My dog is a golden and they can get pretty high strung as pups if you don't give them something to do. I decided service dog training would be good bc of my heart and hip issues so he could help me later and not be so hyper. I put him through his paces and get him on the treadmill every morning so he's good for most of the day. We can't walk outside bc of the area we are in at the moment... lots of bad people and stray dogs that'll attack anything that moves.
A clicker might work for your pup. I had to use one until I was able to get him used to the commands. Now all I have to do is snap and point or give him a hand signal and he does what he's supposed to. Wicked useful being able to snap to get his attention and make him sit from across the room if he gets too hyper. :)

Yeah that is a good idea.  I have been walking him and that seems to tire him out a bit. He listens to my husband more so than me lol he's a bugger. He doesn't chew stuff and hes good with his crate which helps.  He can sit but he doesn't get stay and he jumps up.  So yeah maybe a class would do the trick.

Try getting him in some training? Sometimes they get so excited from pent up energy and taking them to a training class will help them get socialized with other dogs and teach them basic manners. My dog is just over a year and just got his canine good citizenship certificate.  Would have gotten it sooner but when I got him at 3 months he had distemper and it took almost 2 months to get rid of it. Puppies love being given specific tasks to do. If you have a petsmart close by they have new classes starting up all the time and I think they're lowering prices for mother's day now. :) The basic manners class will teach come, sit, stay, down, paw and teach them not to jump up unless you tell them they can. Teaches them to stop chewing unless it's on a toy if they have that problem and even gives you pointers for crate training and barking. I usually train all my animals myself but Dewey needed all the certifications and professional training to become a service dog so we gotta go through the whole bit.

Nope we don't.  We are gonna leave it a surprise! :).

Thanks everyone.  I am trying to train puppy but he is wild right now Haha.  I hope he calms down before baby arrives.  He loves kids and babys so I'm not worried about that. . I'll keep them apart until baby is older though Cuz he is busy lol.

Omg Haha my older dog that passed away loved diapers!  Sooo disgusting!  I was fishing at the cabin and my mom called me and said come in and wash your dog Cuz she got into the diapers.  Well I came in and oh my she had poop smeared all over her face! Dogs are so dirty! Haha

I think your tummy will be fine. My 22lb does the same thing. It hurts me, but I'm more worried about her deciding that dirty diapers are tasty.
Be sure to get your puppy used to babies

As you grow baby grows so it could cause problems. We have a 50lb boxador who thinks she is a lap dog. I know its hard but I would start training now to stay down. Also you dont want him jumping on baby or when your feeding.
