restless legs?

Any idea how to calm them down? My legs have been restless for the last hour. I just want to take a nap :(

You could also try dry brushing. Because since you're on bed rest all the fluids in your legs are probably pooling and not circulating very well. I dry brush before taking a shower usually. At first it kind of hurts because your skin isn't used to it, but after a couple times of doing it I could brush harder and harder without it hurting. You need a special body brush. I got mine off the Internet, I think Amazon. It gets the blood, lymph and retained water to start flowing again which is good for any pregnant woman, but especially if you're on bed rest and getting RLS. I originally started doing it before pregnancy because they say it helps with cellulite but since I've been pregnant I swear it has helped prevent swelling in my legs and helped with the RLS!

ahhh you're on bedrest.. do you keep your feet elevated? lack of muscle movement and the blood flow could be affecting your legs too.. making them feel restless.. JUST A THOUGHT! not a doctor, but it makes sense..

just keep doing what you're doing, praying for ya! (((:

@Darci3 so far the hot bath and massage has helped a lot. I had called my nurse and she told me to drink Gatorade. So I just started 32oz bottle. Hopefully that helps. I can't do walking because I'm full bed rest. but I do a lot of stretching and air bicycles along with yoga laying down of course. I try to be as active as I can! But my dr has given me some cheat days. So hopefully at my next Appt he allows me some more so I can walk!,

@Schmalzy I've never really had this problem. So I'm like freaking out. Hopefully I'm not sore in the morning. I stretch a lot because I'm on bed rest. Idk if that has something to do with it. But I know my water intake is good. I measure with the large smart water bottles.

I had it like crazy with my last pregnancy. My doc told me to try and walk about a mile a day and to rub your legs in an upward motion, not down. Also to drink lots of water. Have you tried drinking something with electrolytes in it, like powerade? That could help also. I drink 96oz+ of water and a powerade a day. It has actually helped with my preterm labor contractions.

@Octobermommy2014 yeah I know! On web MD it said they don't really have enough test on it. But hot baths and massages help. I just took a bath I'm having my husband massage my calf's right now lol but I am going to address it with my ob. I'd rather be safe then sorry!

I got that with my first pregnancy and had it ever since. I usually get my husband to massage my hamstrings. My doctor suggested that. It helps me.

hmm, it COULD be.. but considering that it's SUCH a common pregnancy symptom, I don't would hope it's neither of those things.

I'm only 24 weeks, so maybe the worst is yet to come for me? but if it continues I'd just ask my OB about it.. good luck! last night/this morning was ROUGH for me too! lol lucky ussss! ((:

I have it every night! You probably won't have it on hand right now, but magnesium helps me alot. Most nights anyway. If you have Epsom salts try taking a bath in them. Epsom salts are magnesium and your skin will absorb it and relax your muscles.

@R4ch4el88 & @OctoberMommy2014
But the weird part isthat I have been drinking a lot of water! I had 2 and a half liters of water so far today. (Smart waters) I was just reading online it could be a sign of low iron or folic acid??

Glad I'm not the only one! I've been freaking out. Rubbing them, moving them and I even did the bicycle in the air. Nothing seems to help.:'(
