Mine was done at my 1st appt, no choice. They check you for all kinds of things, stds, cervix, blood work
Even if you don't get a pap they are still going to want t I do a pelvic exam and do a swab for stds so they just take care of it all once. I've had one with all my pregnancies because it checks for cancer and stuff and I want to make sure my baby and I are OK.
Just had mine today first apt. With OB/GYN and it was uncomfortable but very necessary I would rather feel uncomfy than not knowing about any sicknesses or icky stuff like that that would affect me or the baby..she did tell me I might have spotting but to not get scared that it's normal. Also had my breast exam and physical
i had mine at my 12 week appoitment. theres realy no way around it unless ur under 21
My doctor gave me the choice because I just had one last year and I guess it is every three years you need to get one. Like everyone elsehas said they check for infection right away if you get it done now but if you had one the past year you should be fine.
I had one. Everything was fine...it didn't hurt the baby.
I had one at 9 weeks as well. It had been a few years since my last one. She said I might experience some spotting but I didnt have any and am now 14 weeks.
I had one at 7 weeks. It doesn't hurt the baby...just uncomfortable...but no different than if you get one while not pregnant.
Yup paps are always awkward, but very necessary esp during pregnancy.
My doctor did it at my first appointment. Better to check and know nothing is wrong, imo
I had a pap on my first appointment with my ob/gyn & it was awkward, anything like that is gonna be awkward but since you're pregnant that won't be the first or last time he or she will see you. What got me through it was he's seen it all, heard it all then it wasn't so bad. Benifit is, is that he checks you for an infection & can give you the medication you need to get rid of it. Now that you're pregnant there is a lot of medication you can't take. It'll be okay, I know it's awkward.
My dr just does them at the first appointment and I hadn't had one for years so didn't think twice. I'd want to know if I had hpv or any complications.
