sex to induce

My OB recommended sex top help get things moving. I'm 39 weeks 2 days and as of Wednesday barely making progress.  My hubby and I did the deed Wednesday night and then Thursday I started feeling contractions but then they stopped. I lost my mucous plug yesterday so now I'm nervous to do it again. I've read mixed reviews about if it's okay or not. My OB nurse said it's fine as long as my water hasn't broken.
Wondering what you other mammas thoughts were.

As long as your water isn't broken, it's fine. The sac protects the baby from infection, not just the plug. This is our third baby and we've always continued sex until labor began, since my amniotic sac stayed intact until well into labor. You can even have sex during labor, if you are up to it, although I personally didn't want to be touched. Nipple stimulation helps get contractions going too, as does orgasm. Semen helps ripen the cervix. So go for it.

Sex is fine even without a mucus plug. It will actually get things moving. Hubby won't know the difference.so u don't have to worry about feeling odd. U still won't reach baby or placenta with the penis. Now that mucus plug isgone it will help maintain contractions and open cervix
