Ok so now I'm a little worried

so last week my doctor told me that she would be out of town when I hit 40 weeks and won't be back until I'm about 41+ weeks. We went over my induction and it was planned for me to get induced next week on the 17th. I get a call today saying that she will not be in town next week due to a family emergency so I will have to meet with the nurse practitioner. My question is are nurse practitioners able to induce and deliver babies or is it out of their scope of practice?

Sure nurse practioners can deliver a baby :) they will have a Dr on call unless any problems arise. The nurse practioner works very closely with your Dr.they attend over half of the deliveries your Dr preforms and has trained for this a very long time. Likely they are just as capable as the Dr.

I am pretty sure a doctor will be there for the delivery.

In the UK the doctors only deliver the babies if there is a problem.

If the nurse is also a trained midwife it shouldn't be an issue. At my clinic they have one doc or nurse midwife at the hospital at all times and whoever is there when your baby comes is the one that delivers.

I only had my doctor for my first delivery. The last 3 were delivered by whoever was on call, I don't even remember their names.

Can my doctor's nurse practitioner deliver or will it definitely be another doctor? I'm comfortable with my nurse practitioner but I just didn't know if it was out of her scope of practice to deliver and I'm scared to have a random doctor

I'm sure there will be a doctor present for the delivery. Where I'm from, your ob is not likely to be the one delivering your baby. They can't always be there. It's usually whichever doctor happens to be working at the moment.
