Maternity leave

So I'm looking into options to make up my lost income after I have my son. I am not eligible for any paid maternity leave from my work and we habe not been able to save money like we wanted during my pregnancy so far due to several unforeseen reasons (my husband has been out of work due to med complications, car problems, etc...you know, life lol) And with only 3 months left of my pregnancy I am beginning to wonder how we are going to make up for my lost income. I was wondering if any of you have any experience with disability insurance and if I weee to purchase a policy, how long would I need to have it before I could use it? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Have you thought about doing a job at home to do the remainder of your pregnancy and something you can do on maternity leave as well? Send me a message if you are interested, and No its not a scam or spam. Lol.

I used disability and they fought and fought to not pay me, but I won in the end. Such a headache!  I used it 4 years ago, but I think they did not cover preexisting conditions. I had the insurance before I got pregnant so I could use it. Things may have changed with Obamacare and everything, but just look into it. I was paid 60% my salary I but it helped. I was on long term disability because of my complications that kept me out of work longer. Short term disability pays more. Good luck!
