sinus infection - 28 weeks. natural remedies?

Hi all,

8 days ago I came down with a cold that turned into a sinus infection. Went to see the doctor today to see if it was viral or bacterial. Turns out it's viral, which means it's has to run its course.

I'm using natural remedies to alleviate this terrible congestion, including neti pot, saline spray, breathe right strips, vicks vapor rub, and hot showers.

A friend of mine told me to try boiling some Apple Cider Vinegar and inhaling the fumes to open yet sinuses. It worked ok, then I thought I should google it to learn more about it. Looks like I should have also added water. I didn't do that and I'm worried. It was pretty strong (my eyes even watered). I didn't do it for longer than 5 minutes, if that even. Think the baby is ok? I don't know much about vinegar and couldn't learn one way or another if this was an issue or not.

Please let me know if you can shed light on this question. And please feel free to dare other natural pregnancy safe remedies I may not be aware of. Thanks!!

That's great your doc ruled it viral and didn't do an antibiotic. I read most sinus infections are viral so I stopped taking rx for them years ago. I dab some tea tree oil in my nose and that seems to keep them away. I've read that with a sinus infection it's recurrent because the virus lies dormant in your sinuses until your immune system is down... I think I may have defeated it or something. When I was getting them I would put alkolol, tea tree oil, hydrogen peroxide, and a tiny pinch of borax (i know it sounds scary but it is an excellent antifungal) along with the sinurinse or my own salt baking soda mix. I also put these things in my humidifier. Do you ever look on earth clinic or curezone? They are great sources for remedies and you can even post. I would not worry about the vinegar either.

I usually use tiger balm and works really well. I put some on my face, around my nose and under my eyes (where your sinus are) and feel relief right away
