so hot all the time...

So, no A/C at our house (except in my roommate's bedroom because he decided it was OK to raise our electric bill for his comfort after we talked about not getting A/C to save money this summer-but I digress. I'm so hot all the time. Any suggestions for cooking off? I've been taking cool showers, using fans & drinking as much ice water as I can stand & using ice packs on my pressure points...at this point, we've decided to get a small A/C unit for the bedroom, but can't until I get paid on the 5th. Any suggestions??

Wow!!! Yeah we have a townhouse so no actual land plus we have to pay homeowner's association fees (another $250/month) ... I would love to live out further in the country but my husband has a really good job in NYC, so that kinda limits how far out we can go. NJ is ridiculous though between property costs and taxes, we were looking into eastern PA but its a toss up between paying that money for the house here or paying it in commuting costs there.

Holy crap!!! We have ten acres too!!  We live in the country part of upstate NY. We put a lot down on our house so it brought the mortgage down a lot. If we didn't have taxes included it only would be about 560 a month. You guys should move to the. Country!!!! :-)

We live in suburban NJ, our house is about the same size but because we lack a basement my husbands office is upstairs and it gives off so much heat. I am jealous! I wish my mortgage was that low! Ours is about $2200

Oops hit submit l. That's crzy! Ours is like 200 at the most with the ac on. We have a 1800sq ft house (4bedrooms) I couldn't imagine 400$ our mortgage is only 80) w the taxes included!!  I'm a stay at home mom too. There'd be no way we could afford that!! Where do you guys live is it in a city?? I feel like electric is worse in cities for some reason...

Mrsgreeneyes27,solar panels are a really great investment. When my hubby and I get our next house we want solar panels. Right now we have a townhouse so we can't get them but with all my Hubby's computer stuff running the house gets warm. Our electric bill in the summer is like $450 a month just cuz we have to constantly run the AC

Hubby says next yr when taxes come we are getting central air.. I guess as homeowners its not a bad investment.. But he is a hippy kinda. He wants to live off the grid and get solar panels too lol

We tried fans last yr then we decided on one good size ac for the.middle of our house. Its actually close to the same for our electric rather then the three fans with just one ac.it says its 78 in here now but its not humid at all if you go outside then come back in it feels cold.  The humidity is what kills me and makes me super grumpy. Eat.lots of ice.pops lol I keep my shade closed too it helps during the day. Oh and I try to cook on The grill as much as.possible there's a burner on it I use for pasta and stuff. I caved today and made spinach onion and bacon quiche.. I regret it BC it went from 74 to 79 in here. Ugh I hate the heat!!!
