I had one with my first pregnancy and we could never get it to pick up a heartbeat regardless of how far along I was. I will never buy another one thats for sure.

Go to YouTube. Also at 13 weeks the top of your uterus should be a lIttle out of your pelvis.  Just keep trying you will get it.

I got one at 10weeks and I've always been able to find the heart beat.  At 13 weeks your baby isn't up in your belly yet your uterus is still really small.  Try looking at pictures of where the baby could be positioned at 13 weeks the baby is way underneath your belly button.  Also try using aloe gel instead of lotion. I'm not sure which heart beat monitor you have,  I have the Sonoline B, it works very well for me.  I'm 29 weeks and since I've felt her move and kick all the time I don't use it that often.  But don't stress.  You also must be laying on your back, feet and legs uncrossed. Hope this helps. I'd like to know if you end up finding it.  Feel free to message me if you have any questions. :) good luck ♡♡

I personally think they are garbage at home. Causes undue stress. You need not to have more stress and worry. Even my doctor has trouble finding my little guys beat.

That is why most drs will advise you not to get one. They only make you worry.

I bought one online that worked fantastic for me. I made sure it was FDA approved and it came with the gel they use at the doctor's office. I used it for the first time around 15weeks and was able to hear her heartbeat right away. It could be the quality or style of the Doppler that's giving you trouble. The one I have looks identical to the ones they use in the office instead of the ones that you wrap around your belly. Also, try directly below your belly button but further down. 9 times out of 10 that's where I would hear it the best.
Good luck and I'm sure baby is just fine, try not to worry too much :)

I have one and have a front placenta so it's hard for me to find it. Plusbi never was able to pick up the babies heartbeat till about 16 weeks. I love it now and ever since 16 weeks. I listen to his heartbeat everyday. Give it a few weeks and youll start knowing where he is at and it'll become easy to find.

My mom bought me one and it specifically says on the package that it's best to use it in the 3rd trimester.  :(   I'm 23 weeks and still haven't been able to pick up a heart beat with it. I can feel her moving all over the place though so I'm happy.

Those things r very hard to use on ur own. Plus depending on the one u have some don't even pick up the heart rate I'll ur further along. I had one last pregnancy when I was in mysecond trimester and it was a waste of money could never hear baby I returned it an got my money back and just waited till my drs appointments. I wouldn't worry

i wouldn't stress it is a medical tool so if you aren't trained on how to use one i imagine its a bit of learning curve. thats why i never got one seemed like added stress because i saw more people complaining about not being able to use it right. also you need to know how to palpate the uturus to find out where the baby is roughly which is hard so early on since they are so small. again drs and midwives are trained and ot may look easy for them but they spent years in school learning to do it correctly. baby is fine you dont need the Doppler.  but i hope it gets more user friendly as you learn to use it.

I have 1 and first time I used it I couldn't find the heart beat at all. I got a little worried but did some research on it to see if I was doing something wrong. I found a girls video on YouTube and she uses baby oil instead of lotion or the oil like they use at the doctors office. I feel like I use a ton of it but it works great. Maybe try alot of baby oil and be patient it takes a while to find. I still cant find the heart beat right away even if im sure I know where she is at.

Dopplers are tricky. There's the medical ones actually used at the docs for sale and those work better (so I'm told) but I never bought one for this reason- they never seem to do anything but worry you sick- I'm sure everything is fine. Maybe at your next appt bring it with you and after they find the heartbeat put it in the same spot and see if it works :)

I also have one and at your stage of pregnancy it is hard to find.  I'm 32 weeks and sometimes I, have a hard time. Take it will u to Dr and let her show u how to use it and things. It will help out alot.
