It stands for symphysis pubis dysfunction and it causes inflammation and pain in the ligaments around the pelvis.
What does SPD mean? Otherwise, 35+3 here, and yes I have all of the other symptoms. Makes it hard to work!
Aw that's good. Good husbands are the best thing in bad pregnancies. This is my second wee one and I didn't have SPD this bad with my first, so with this being your fifth you're probably very sore. Enjoy the fussing! :)
Thank u for the reply. I have a midwife appt weds ill ask then. I'm fine as long as I don't move so enjoying my husbands fussing tonight :)
This was me last night. I am 26 weeks and I've had SPD since 13 weeks due to already having bad joints/ligaments (EDS). I've been having really uncomfortable braxton hicks for the last four weeks and I am having them more and more to where it's now around 4 hrs a day. I rang the maternity unit last night to speak to one of the sisters as I was breathless from the strength of them. The first thing she asked me was did I have SPD? when I told her my history she said that pelvic pain and spasms can exacerbate braxton hicks and make them worse. She said to go in if they became painful and the pain lasted longer than an hr. If you have already had 4 other children your ligaments around your pelvis may be sore and exacerbating your SPD (it does sound like SPD). I would speak to your midwife, I've been given crutches to balance my pelvis and an SPD belt to hold me together. Maybe you could try that?
