stool softener?

Has anyone has any luck with stool softeners? I haven't tried it because I was trying to just do the natural remedies but nothing seems to be working. But between not being able to go, the hemorrhoid and the sciatic nerve pain I'm starting to look to other options. I'm 16 weeks ftm.

I use colace and it works everytime. Its over the counter but you should check with your doc first.

I'm having the same issues. Coffee used to make me go immediately but now that doesn't even work...:(

I drink and drink and drink water...All day hot and cold and it just doesn't seem to help :(  I have cut out all caffeine which is fine but I've got to find something that will help. Luckily I have an appointment on Friday with my doctor. I'm fairly sure they'll just tell me to eat more fiber and drink more water just like last time though. It's definitely not the end of the world but it sure is uncomfortable.

I take a pill that's a stool softener and laxative. I actually take two at a time, because I've had constipation problems since I was a toddler and been hospitalized once, so I don't mess around.
I take those two pills then I drink water continuously and take a warm shower until I need to go.

I used to use miralax all the time before I was pregnant and it would work by the next morning. My dr told me I could still use it now that I'm pregnant but honestly, it doesn't work for me anymore. I've taken it and still not had bowel movements for a few days. I am not anemic so I lowered my iron dosage, continue to eat alot of fiber and water and I just make sure I set aside some time every morning after eating and having a warm drink to lay on my left side and massage my stomach going from my right side and down my left, where the descending colon is. Now I usually go every morning. Before it was like once a week! So I've seen alot of improvement, but not from stool softeners. Maybe you will have better luck with them tho!
