stopping work

Hi ladies,

Just curious when you stopped or are planning to stop working? I'm 36weeks and working full time,  so exhausted and swollen by the end of the day, but only 2weeks til my cesarean is booked. Should I work up til c-day or rest up in my last few weeks?

I'm a nanny and work with a lot of other people's kids, some of which like to throw tantrums and kick... so when one of charges started kicking me on purpose and aiming for my stomach (she actually told me if I didn't do what she said she would make my baby "go away") I stopped working right then and there. I won't risk losing my child just because another parent won't correct hers, ya know? Anywho, most of the women in my family worked up til the gave birth and was back on their feet working the day after. A few couldn't due to high risk problems but as lng as you're not lifting or doing factory work, I think you should be fine. Every woman is different so just listen to your body. If you feel you need to take off then do it.

Same here @singermomtobe- I can't afford to stop and sadly that's the only reason keeping me there atm. I'm also ftm but with cesarean date set due to complications it's like now that I know and see the end I feel like work should definitely end too lol. I so just wanna be lazy and soak up my last few weeks but reality isn't that kind! lol

I'm planning on working til I go into labor. Lol. I can't afford extra time off. And since I'm a ftm, I could go up to two weeks past my due date. My job is labor intensive and kills me every day at 36 weeks, but I gotta tough it out because I'm on my own.

Thanks everyone!  I figure I'll take it one day at a time,  one week at a time. I've been hearing it a lot lately "you should've stopped working by now" and copping a lot off the grandmothers-to-be so that's what's got me wondering. That and my physical state- I'm right there with you @Kiddy5000!

I'm at radiology technologist and I plan to work up until my due date (as long as I can last). I'm due at the end of April. Starting April 1st I cut my hours back to 2 days a week instead of 3-4 just in case I go into labor early they won't have to many shifts to cover. Depending on your fmla and your job if you can tough it these last 2 weeks I say do it.

Im leaving in my 33rd week.. I waitress at a busy resturaunt and dont think it will be good for me to be lifting such heavy trays and being on my feet that long, that far along... my dr also said he definently agrees with that time frame..

I stopped working when I was 36 weeks due to my body just couldn't take it my feet and hands were swollen I wasn't getting any sleep so I would be so tired the next day at work. I guess it juts depends on the person also make sure you listen to your body it will let you know when too much is to much

I'm 30 weeks now since its 12:27 lol n im working 43+ plus hours a week, I do 8 Hour shifts everyday n Fridays I work 11 hours, n my one day off is saturdays. My feet haven't gotten swollen or anything yet, n I'm very active I'm on my feet all the hours besides a half hr break n i Have to do some lifting. My doctor told me its ok to work my whole pregnancy but it's up to me n how I feel.  If I feel like its to much than to stop but till then it's ok. I'm starting to feel overwhelmed n exhausted so I'm thinking about j cutting down my hours a lil bit. But it all depends on you n how u feel. Good luck ladies! !

I worked up until my due date in a pretty labor intensive job (lifting more than I should standing and walking on bare concrete all day) I feel u on being miserable but I wanted every second of my fmla time with new baby and I had natural birth.  I don't know ur whole situation but I would suggest toughing it as far as u can. Good luck.
