stretch mark prevention

How early should I start using stretch mark creams to prepare my skin for stretching and to prevent stretch marks? I'd really like to avoid them if possible

To answer your question, YESTERDAY! Lol. I messed up with my first by not keeping with my preventive stretch mark routine. I would go days and sometimes weeks without using my lotions and other stretch mark products. And when my belly got bigger,, and I didn't see any stretchmarks, I thought I was going to be ok, so I decided not to be so worried about it. By 20 wks, I had my first set of stretch marks... Wish I would have started it earlier, so my skin would have had a better chance at staying smooth.
Good Luck! I hope you do better than I did, lol

I agree with leshonda. It doesn't depend on what type of lotion you use. It has to do with the elasticity of your skin. You can try lotion all day and night but still might get them. Just a heads up.

It does run in your mothers genes but you can still lotion so they don't get worse. Use vasalines coco butter. It smells great and is about $7 for a HUGE bottle. I think palmers brand stinks and is a rip off. But yes you shoulda started yesterday lol

Immediately! I started using cocoa butter stretch mark lotion from Walmart the day I found out I was pregnant. You can never start too soon.

I've heard from doctors that stretch marks are genetic. If your mom got them then you will. They state stretch marks actually occur from the inside and all the motion in the world will not penetrate that far. It doesn't hurt to lather up, but it won't prevent stretch marks.
