Oh and most of the obs i talked to said watch out for tuna and any fish containing mercury. I always try to stick with salmon.

And also... i remember spinach and other veggies being contaminated during my other pregnancies. And a good example is the ice cream that was just contaminated. You pretty much take a chance with everything.

This is my 4th preg and ive eaten raw sushi about twice a month with each one. My last 3 were so long ago drs didnt warn me about it. My bil whos an ob says its safe as long as you go to a place thats reputable. The benefits outweigh the risks since the risk is so small if youre careful. Plus, idk where you are, but wasabi helps kill anything (according to my sushi chef) and all fish has to be flash frozen in us. And that kills everything. Ive done so much research on this and asked several of my bils colleagues. Just everything in moderation. Also the sushi servers have told me preg women are constantly in there and its considered a very important part of preg diet in certain places.

Sure, some people eat raw fish or unpasteurized milk or deli meat while pregnant and nothing bad happens. Some people smoke a pack a day or take narcotics or drink heavily throughout their pregnancy and nothing bad happens, too. It's a matter of risk. There are foodborne illnesses out there that can be very dangerous - not everyone exposed to them will get sick, and not everyone who consumes high risk foods will be exposed. But it doesn't mean there's no chance you'll get sick just because other people have done it without negative consequences.  I choose to avoid high risk foods because it significantly decreases the risk. But everyone has to make those risk/reward decisions on their own.

I eat sushi all the time and a few weeks ago had raw salmon and all is good.  Pregnant ladies in Japan do it all the time. Just need to go to a restaurant that has good hygiene practices and you can always tell by looking in the bathroom

I eat sushi all the time, just not raw fish. I don't eat the tuna though... It's higher in mercury.

As long as the meat part is thoroughly cooked, I believe you can. You want to avoid meat that's raw/undercooked.

I only ate tempora sushi while pregnant. Didn't want the risk of raw sushi just in case.
