child birth without medicaid or insurance

I'm having my baby in indianapolis but I don't have insurance and won't want to use medicaid because I'm not eligible to use that bcos I'm not American and if you use these care it will affect your visa application to the US. Please anyone have an idea how much it will cost if I decide to use selfpay. Or any cheap hospital to use that will have a good discount for selfpay mothers.

Call around to local dr and midwifes as well as hospitals and birthing centers that's What I did and every place had a self pay price. My hospital was 2, 500 and my dr was 3, 200. I went where was cheapest

I agree with lenox. My aunt and uncle don't have health insurance so when they had my cousin in 2012 they went with a birthing center and paid I believe about $2000. They loved it

I read in an article not that far back that a normal vaginal birth can cost up to 23,000$
A lot of things they charge you for are simple things you can bring yourself, make sure you have everything you could need to reduce cost. Formula, bottles, diapers, baby clothes, a pack n play or other portible sleeper, exc. They will charge you for everything

I would say the cheapest is to get a midwife and or possibly have a home natural birth. When you have a medical birth in the hospital you're paying for everything. The hospital , doctors , medicine and anything else that comes up . With a home birth or even at a birthing center youre just paying for midwife and center cost. But this is only if youre not high risk . Look into it

I am pregnant with my first child and I had the same question about how much it would cost. I have insurance but mines was able to give me an estimate of how much a vaginal birth and c - section would cost out of pocket. Vaginal birth was about $5,000-$6,000 and C - section was about $8,000-$9,000. I am assuming this varies depending on labor. Hope this helps some.
