It is a precaution about those shops that do not properly clean their tools or those who do not use an autoclave.  The concern is spread of blood born pathogens namely hepatitis.  I have questioned several tattoo shops on this very subject. There is also an increased chance of allergic reaction since the pregnancy hormones can cause chances to body chemistry.  Most will recommend waiting until after delivery due to increased liability however the waivers signed release them from said liability.

Absolutely Not.  A good licensed shop will not tattoo you of you are pregnant.

No it is not safe. And most tattoo places will not tattoo you when you are pregnant anyways. The good ones won't at least. And they said that if you plan on breastfeeding to be careful or just wait.

They say stay away from reds. If you were to get an outline or something - say in black you should be fine. Just make sure u take real good. Care of it. You don't want to get an infection. I've had tattoos done in my first pregnancy. 3rd pregnancy - didn't know I was pregnant at the time. And early pregnancy this pregnancy. The first 2 were outlines this one complete color. I didn't know I was pregnant this time either. The only thing they are concerned about is if you were to get an infection it could spread to your blood . But again if you take proper care of it you will be ok.
