upset & curious O_o

I just found out I probably won't get paid while on maternity leave, apparently I needed to work at least 24hrs a week which I had increased back in May. Employer is saying I'm not averaging that much, ugh!! Does anyone know if I could get unemployment while off work. Btw I live in Michigan & am 36wks pregnant...so not much time left.

Work is calling it short term disability, I've work @ this job for 13yrs minus one yr back in 2003. They are now saying I may qualify if I'm really close to the hrs that are expected. Guess I'll have to look into fmla...thanks ladies there is no way, if I don't get paid somehow, that I can be off for the full 6wks...bummer :(

I live in michigan too & as far as I know you don't get paid for maternity leave unless your company offers that. Were you going to get paid from you job? Or the state?

I won't get paid for maternity leave through my company. However, I do have short term disability that will pay me 60% of my salary while on leave. Of course, I do pay $120 a month for short term disability insurance so they better pay me.

Most places don't pay you for leave but they have to hold your job or a job at company if you take fmla but you have to work at the place for a year and have work 1200 hours. If you don't than u do not qualify for family medical leave act. Are you taking fmla

I'm not too sure. I was wondering the same thing because we have to use our pto time at my work and I will only have enough for maybe 2 weeks or 3 :(

I just filed for disability, check your state's edd (unemployment) website and see if you can get that instead. Make sure it says disability, not unemployment
