used items

I am so against buying used item for my baby. But now I'm reconsidering because things get expensive. 1 baby out fit is 20 to 30 bucks or higher. && new borns grows so fast. Craigslist have items $15 for 90 pieces and $30 for $60 pieces. That's so much stuff. Lol so I think I am gonna reconsider used stuff because I wanna take all the help and deals we can get. What's your opinion on this?

I'm on baby #5. If I can't get something on clearance I won't buy it full price. It's way too expensive to buy new with so many kids and they outgrow the clothes so fast anyway. There are some things I wouldn't buy a thrift store like a car seat, but we did buy a nice crib on craigslist with our 4th baby and it's still in good condition for this one. I've bought clothes for all my kids including this baby at thrift stores. Some of the stuff is new with tags still on it or in excellent used condition. Once Upon A Child is one of my favorite places to shop. Goodwill is also a great place.

This is my third baby and for all my babies I wanted new things but totally unrealistic on top of its so expensive they don't use most of it for long before your buying more I think unless your going to keep having babies back to back and even then used is the way to go just think of the money you will save in the long run.

Honestly, new items can be totally rubbish. I like to know that something has lasted the test of time and hasn't fallen apart.

I am on baby #1. I'm a super cheap person so there is NO WAY I am paying full price for baby clothes. I feel like I am literally burning money. I'd rather save it for his college fund or a Disney World trip. I buy almost exclusively from consignment and second hand stores. We bought a new co-sleeper, car seat, and diaper bag. The rest is used!

I'm all about used and hand me downs. This is my 4th and the only things I truly need are diapers and wipes. I have the same play pen and I was able to score a free car seat from my insurance.

I go to this place called Once Upon A Child for clothes and linens and stuff like that.  With my first, I used my cousin's hand-me-down crib but made sure to check it to see if it was up to safety standards.  There is no way in h*ll I'm paying 10-30 bucks for a freaking onesie.  I want my kid to look nice but jeez.  Things are insane with pricing now and as far as clothes go, all they're gonna do is spit up on it, get food on it, and possibly have blow-outs in it.  I'm thinking about craigslisting a double stroller bc that stuff is way too much too.  So yeah, hey, if any of you ladies know any good deals on one of those, msg me lol

I definitely think there are a few things you should buy new or at least know the person who you're getting them from, but clothes, well, clothes can be washed. I have purchased a lot of outfits for my little guy at goodwill, Ross or other thrift/discount stores. Some of them are brand new anyway because babies grow so fast! Let other people spend their $30 on a pair of baby jeans that they'll outgrow in a month.

I work in a thrift shop, and while some things I won't buy used (such as carseats or mattresses or things like that) clothes and such, especially for little ones, is a steal. We see a lot of baby clothes that still have tags or look brand new because they grow put of them faster then they can be worn. Nothing wrong with thrift! It saves money, money that goes for diapers and formula ;)

I'm a ftm and I am proud to say I am a frugal mother. Lol I have no concerns buying a great deal. If it's used or new either way I wash it down good before baby gets here. So if u can find good deals mama go for it.

My husband found a $1000 crib and dresser/changing table for only $150. And its actual wood, not that pressboard crap. And we have gotten other things on Craigs list too. I even found some maternity clothes on a Facebook online yardsale page. Im all about a good deal. Thats what cleaners and soap are for! :-)

Well if you go to Walmart or Ross baby clothes are very cheap. I bought mostly new clothes. But I have gotten a few things from my sister and from the thrift store there is nothing wrong with it. Babies grow fast and are messy. Just have a few nice new things for days out or events.

For the outfit, I go to Marshalls cause they have a bunch of stuff for cheap, but my mom bought a bunch of good stuff at yard sales for cheap, like the bassinet, a baby bjorn carrier, new, and shoes for .25 cents, and more stuff

There's nothing wrong with accepting hand me downs. And also I went to Wal-Mart and got my baby's carseat, bassinet and like 30 outfits for less than$150. They had a lot of the lil out fits that come with the onesie, tshirt, and pants for no more than 8 dollars on clearance, the granimals sleepers are like $4.88 and they have the mix and match granimals pieces for like 3.88 each. I also went to dollar tree for things like socks, wash cloths, bibs, etc. Just a thought

Nothing wrong with clean, used items. Ive done a mixture of both this time around. My 1st I insisted on everything being new and quite honestly it was the silliest idea I ever had. Babies grow so fast and half of it he didnt even use! I look for stuff on discount or clearance when buying new, then other things I bought used from a nice thrift store. Most of the things I bought used look brand new but for 1/4 of the price I would have paid in the store. I just bought an exersaucer for $5. The thing still had its original packaging and all! $5!! At a garage sale! lol

I felt like that with my first baby too. Baby number the is different.  We have some great gently used mama/baby stores. I just scored a gorgeous baby swing for 55 bucks. New it would be at least $150. It's in perfect condition too:)

I bought a used glider crib but bought a new mattress .
I got blankets / grows & some clothes second hand from family (I know the stuff is clean good condition)

But I'll buy new too but I think second hand is fine once its good well looked after stuff.
You wouldn't know its second hand half the time!

Look out for people selling new items too many times baby doesn't wear stuff and people sell it cheap :)
