Eventually it should break but you don't want to go to long with it leaking or open because you are at risk for an infection. You can always buy test strips at target or pharmacy. PH strips you can test the discharge and it will tell you if its just urine or amniotic fluid.

It will be clear or foggy. The babys head can clog the hole letting only a little out at a time. With my first baby i went to the Hp leaking and when he checked me it broke the rest of the way because the babys head was plugging the hole. Lol

If ur able to "hold it in", it's most likely just urine. And if ur standing up, generally u Dnt have to worry about a big gush because gravity will be pulling down on baby and they kind of act like a plug. I agree with @luka_n_baby. Pads r agree great idea

So it will eventually break? This may sound dumb, but I thought it could just keep trickling out and never actually fully break.

I don't leak but I've been wondering what are the tell tale signs of labor but everyone tells me something different.

You will constantly be wet and it won't smell like urine. Throw on a pad and it will fill up. Mine tricked for almost a whole day before my water completely broke
