I had a water birth with my first and hope for same this time. It was explained to me that the water is kept at body temperature at the point the head is born therefore the transition to the birthing pool water seems no different to amniotic fluid for baby so they will not attempt to breathe. Hope that helps. Can definately recommend water as a really natural aid to less painful labour xx
Water birth is safe. Don't stress and baby will come quick
Baby does not breath under water. He think that he's still in the womb. Water temp should be same as body temp. I had a perfect water birth. Very nice experience. Baby was born within 2 hours.
I've asked the midwife in my area that does water births if she's ever had any complications: drowning, trouble breathing, etc. She said the only complication she ever has is trying to figure out how to stay dry!
Your baby lives in water right now in utero.
The baby can't drown because it gets oxygen from your placenta. Until they clamp and cut the cord that's how your baby is getting oxygen.
