pelvic exam / zorfan

Is it normal to have a pelvic exam at six weeks? After two trips to the ER for nauseuaness they setup a pelvic exam - not being able to hold anything down they gave me zorfan which ive heard has caused birth defects but all doctors say its okay to take. ive asked three doctors and two nurses they promise me ill be fine. Has anyone take zorfan and have had no problems with baby? first time pregos and trying to listen to my doctors depsite what i find online. zorfan is the Only thing helping me keep food and water down..roughest five weeks of my life!ive lost five pounds already:(

Those commercials are produced by lawyers looking for cases, not doctors. Your doctors know more about the drug than the lawyers. That's what they went to school for. Everyone definitely needs to trust their doctors over lawyers and what they read on the Internet. Is there a risk of some sort of defect or side effect with taking Zofran? I'm sure there is. But there is a risk of those things when taking ANY drug, prescribed or not. Zofran just happens to be the one that the lawyers picked to stir up a bunch of hype, because they know a lot of pregnant women take it.

I took zofran all the way up till the end of my 2nd trimester. I'm 5 days away from my due date and baby is doing great! I also had hyperemesis but it definitely will make you constipated so take your stool softeners and try and get as much fluid in you as possible. Good luck mama.

My dr also prescribed zorfan to me. I have seen the commercials but have heard many stories of mommies taking it all throughout their pregnancies and have had perfectly normal healty babies.. I took it for 2 days worked wonders but it made me sooooo constipated. And nothing was helping so i stopped the zorfan..  I highly doubt Drs/ers would prescribe it if truly caused birth defects..

Took zofran with my first and she is a perfectly healthy 3.5 yr old and now this one. At our 20 week scan no evidence of birth defects. And pelvic exams are very normal during your first appointment.

I highly doubt doctors would continue prescribing something if they knew it was causing birh defects. You'll be fine if you take it. And yes, pelvic exams are quite normal at your first prenatal appointment.

There are no cases of it causing birth defects. I was on zofran when I was diagnosed with hyperemesis and baby is just fine. Don't believe everything you see on tv.

I dont think it will affect the baby if you haven't been taking it for a while but I wouldn't take it any longer. I saw a commercial on tv telling ppl to call in if they took zofran while being pregnant and if they had birth defects, so it tells me its not safe. Pray for your baby and God will make a way! Good luck!
