Everyone is different. I didn't register for big stuff. My family took care of it beforehand anyway. My mom bought the crib and pack n play, my sister bought the highchair and my mother inlaw bought the carseat/stroller combo. I bought the bedding. I basically registered for the small stuff..diapers, wipes, blankets, receiving blankets, wipe warmer, boppy, bumbo, etc.
I think having a few big items on the registry is a good thing. Some people may want to go in on a bigger item together rather than but a bunch of small things.
27mommyoftwo that Babies R Us deal is great! I literally registered for everything I wanted/ needed, crib, dresser, nightstand, stroller, car seat, convertible seat, pack n play, high chair, diaper disposal, toys, clothes, etc. Also if $300 is bought of items on your registry (whether you buy them or they get bought as gifts) you get a gift card after your due date for a certain percentage back. I'd say register for whatever you can through all price ranges even if its stuff you're going to get yourself its worth throwing it on their just for the benefits.
N pack n plays are amazing I always keep the baby in my room for at least six months BC the risk of SIDS its especially higher In boys too. So I used the pack in play in my room and the one I have has a awesome net for bugs BC I love to fish and I bring baby with us :-)
No at babies r us they have a thing where whatever you don't get off your registry you get 10% off so register away. I asked my parents for specific big things like my car seat And stroller and my in laws got my 4 in 1 crib and rug for my nursery. My youngest was a owled themed room. Put on gift cards to its always helpful for when you run out of stuff!!!
His family will probably be just as willing to help with some of the big stuff. My family offered to buy all of the big stuff but his family called asking me why I didn't have any "good" stuff on my registry.
I was thinking im going to have two showers one for his family amd one for mime, maybe i can ask for aome of the big things from my family. And some of the smaller stuff from his?
So then nothing is really too big or too small?
For my registry I did a variety of priced items for everyone. I purchased the crib and car seat and stroller combo but I have big items like a swing and bedding sets which can run easily over 100.00
