what do contractions feel like

Ftm, 34.5 weeks along, I've been having some pain in my abdomen this week. I can't tell if it is just from my baby girl getting bigger or if it is braxton hicks starting. Sometimes it almost feels like I have to poo or have gas but then I can't go and sometimes it hurts in my ribs (maybe a foot in them). My back has also been killing me just below my shoulders. I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me what contractions and/or labor pains are like.

I went to the labor room last night because the pain was so bad. Turns out it was round ligament pain from her dropping. Hopefully that means my baby girl will be here soon!

You'll definitely know when it's real contractions they're consistent and painful . I woke up at 4am and had the urge to poop when I went in to labor when I pushed I had sharp back pains when I went to lay in bed they were a constant 4 mins apart

Thank you ladies! I think it may be the baby running out of room so I'm more uncomfortable or possibly just haven't been getting enough water so I'll have to try and drink more. Either way u have an appointment to see my doctor tomorrow so I'll be sure to tell him about it. It doesn't feel like period cramps just almost like if you have diarrhea(sorry to be gross lol). Thank you again!

They come and go. You can time them. So a constant random pain are probably not a contraction. They progressively get worse. But as always. If the pain is bothersome please call your on call nurse or doc office.
