what to expect

Im sure there has been many similar questions but heres one again... im 7 weeks with my first :) next Tuesday i have an appt at my drs office with my nurse (my dr wont c me till 12 wks). This will be my first appointment.  Then next Thursday i have my first ultrasound.  Im so excited for both appointments! What will happen at the first one? And my nurse told me to drink 32oz of water an hr n a half b4 my ultrasound.  I cant hold my pee for an hr now!  How important is that?

They usually want you to drink the 32oz of water so they can get a good picture of your cervix. My Dr had me do that early in my pregnancy... she took the picture of the cervix and then let me go pee before finishing the exam. :) just drink as much water as you can before the exam

You don't need to drink a lot. I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks and 12 weeks and saw everything just fine. They usually have you provide a urine sample before anyway, so your bladder should be empty. That may be the reason they ask you to drink before?

The very beginning of the scan they use the abdominal ultrasound. Then you pee and they go transvaginal usually

U can finish drinking your water an hr before appointment. Usually just before your appointment the water hits your bladder and you have to pee pretty dang bad lol. They only need the full bladder for the very beginning of the scan in the early weeks if im not mistaken. You wont have to hold it to long dont worry lol

They scare you into saying holding water is so important but I peed 10 seconds before my ultra sound and had no issues.  Do your best.
