Where I'm at most women take it from 36wks because you have to get a drs certificate to say your fit for work if you want to work beyond that. But we also get 12mths unpaid leave and the employer has to take you back. I had complications with my first baby and my boss and I decided together it was just best for me to use up my sick and holiday leave before starting mat leave. Which was lucky because I ended up being on bed rest before delivering a month early. Its really up to you and what you can afford.
If you're healthy I'd wait. I'm due Sept 20th and Im trying to hold out til at least 37 weeks but I'm pushing to go to 39. I have a week of vacation so techinically I wouldn't be taking it til 38 weeks. I work a job that requires me to be on my feet all day which ***** because my feet and back hurt like crazy. Other than that I'd work until my due date or labor... which ever came first.
I'm due septwmber 15th and my mat leave starts september 8th, but I have a week of holiday before that so I finish work on septwmber 1st. If you feel you need to go on leave now then do it. Every pregnancy is different and nobody here has the right to tell you that you can't go on leave now and should work until your due date. I'm actually secretly hoping my midwife will sign me off from work in mid august, it's getting really painful now. I only have 6 weeks left and I honestly don't know if I will make it that far. Do what you think is best
im due September 18th but not taking leave til September 1st.
I worked up until I was 39 weeks and 3 days with my son. I was planning on working til September 6th, 2012 my due date was September 8th, 2012 and I had him on September 4th. I would wait unless you are having complications or your doctor tells you no more work.
How long do you get off. I'm taking mat leave and parental leave so I get a year off. I'm due sept 29th and I'm hoping to stay at work until sept 12. I wanted to stay tell the 15th but I don't see the point when the 15th is a monday so 17 days before baby is due.
Your job might not take you back if you go this early.. But I'm sure you want more time with the baby anyways rather just sitting home pregnant. Are you having complications because if so that's different but if not hand in there a little longer. Maybe August 18th go on leave
I wouldn't recommend it unless there is a health reason to do so or you are uncomfortable with working. I worked up until 39 weeks- this is my week off before my due date Monday- and I'm soooo bored. I feel like I'm just sitting around waiting to go into labor. I also think that working and walking kept me in shape and healthier. It's up to you though
I had mine planned for March 19 and due July 25. I ended up leaving way before that. But in my situation I won't be returing to work after I have my child. But it really depends on your job and how physical it is.. it really makes a diffrence
My boss wants me to leave a month before my due date . I'm a receptionist he doesn't want any "accidents" to happen I think he's jus paranoid he had a bad experience w a pregnant wrker before I evn started evn wrking here
It depends on what your job is, some ppl sit down all day, others run around like headless chickens....if your finding it hard then take your leave, it depends how you feel :)
I'm due September 16th and my maternity leave starts on September 5th. I think it's way too early to take leave now. The point of the leave is to recover, if you're taking the standard 12 weeks. I am taking a little longer since mine would end with a week before Christmas break (I'm a teacher). Might as well wait til the new year to go back lol.
It's too early.. Unless ur having complications now! But I would wait until late Aug.
Im due the same day as well :)).gonna work all the way till doctor tells me.not.too
I'm due the same day but I'm not go timing to take mine until Aug 30. It just depended on you how early you want to take it.
