pre term labor

just wondering how many mommas out their have experianced pre term labor?  what happen? any idea of what caused it? how was it treated at the hospital?  did the labor stop on its own?

I know lots of q's though this is just what Im dealing with right now. im having baby #4. I whent into labor yesterday and was in labor for a number of hrs, I have dilated a bit. I whent to the hospital and after several hrs it stoped all on its own. the hospital kept me for several more hrs and gave me a steroid shot in my hip to help my baby's lungs to be stronger,  incase she ends up being born early.  frustrating though, they warned me that my blood sugars will go up. wow did I not expect by how much. I now have to take 40 units of insulin with each meal. they have kept me and monitored me all day today and at midnight tonight they will be giving me another steroid shot in my hip. I have to wonder if this will send my sugars up even more. they said that this will be my new change for a few weeks. then what? ok, just have to remind myself 6 more weeks until show time, when I get induced.  sigh.

Thank you. Ya this is my first pregnancy and I'm so sad I can't enjoy it like I wanted to. I just can't wait for it to be over and I hope and pray for a healthy baby boy. I'm currently 31 weeks now. At 28 weeks i got shots to strengthen baby's lungs just in case.

I hope everything turns out good for or u and ur baby as well. :-)

Around 24 weeks I called the doctor to tell him I was having weird cramps. They told me that I was too early to be worried. That it was just growing pains. They even said I could still go on my vacation. So I went to Missouri. While I was with my mom the pains got worst. But I didn't think it was labor pain. It was my first baby. I didn't know.  25 weeks it got so bad I couldn't sleep. I went to pee and saw I was covered in blood. Mom took me to the er. I was 100% thinned out and 4cms.
I started pumping me full of drugs. I had two ivs in each arm. I had to get the lung shots as well. I received an ultrasound each day.  I was on strict beef rest. On day 4 my water broke. There was no stopping it after that. I gave birth to a 2lb baby. We stayed in the nicu for 3 months.
They don't know why it happened. I was over weight. Other then that I was healthy.

Mommy2BangieB  sorry to here that. though I am glad that there is a good NICU where you are and that there is a plan in place. I wish you much luck on Thursday.

mommy2BangieB wow 34 week induction. that is early. the medical here dose not like to do so before 37 weeks. what made that decision come about? if you dont mind my asking.

I was admitted to the hospital at 28 weeks Cuz of bleeding due to a low lying placenta.  They kept me for a day and said if I didn't stop bleeding they were gonna deliver.  I stopped and was sent home on strict bed rest. Went in for an appt. And found out I also have a short cervix. I'm still waiting on getting thay meds they want me on for that.  My last appt. Showed my placenta went up a little & my cervix is still the same. Yesterday I started have cramping in lower area. And dr. Believes I was going into premature labor.  He didn't tell to go to hospital.  He prescribed me a medicine that is suppose to stop contractions.  And if it didn't work call him back. I'm sure if I get it again  he will send me to hospital to be monitored and admitted til I have baby.  & get a IV for of meds to stop labor.

thank you for sharing mummainoz. I had low lying placenta. the thought of the cause of my pre term labor.  the ultrasound today showed it has moved up. thank the starts.

I went into preterm labour with my first. I had severe preeclamplsia and got a stomach bug which brought on contractions at 34wks. They hooked me up and said it was the real deal. My ob said my body had had enough so they were just going to let it happen. Got the steroid shot and called everyone. But then 12hrs later the contractions stopped and they sent me home. A week later the preeclamplsia got worse and I had a csection. I never had any reactions to the steroid shots tho and they never told me of any possible side effects. I hope everything goes well for you!
