I got both flu and tdap. Whooping cough is an epidemic where I live. I have my kids up to date on their vaccines, and my husband will get his tdap before the baby is born. I will also be limiting contact with anyone who hasn't got a whooping cough vaccine,  until he gets his vaccine. There's a lot of "research studies" out there saying vaccines do more harm than good, but I don't by into it. Why put the baby at risk? That is my opinion.

Pro: your baby won't die of whooping cough. It's that simple.

Ive just spoke to my midwife roday about these vaccines. They are so important. She has recently had a mum to be who has been admitted into intensive care as her body is unable to fight off the flu and has made her n her baby very unwell. As our bodies are pushed to the limit creating a baby what we would normally be able to fight off is made a lot more difficult expecting. She also informed me that whooping cough is rife at the min and here in the uk in the past year lots of babies have become very ill with this a few weeks after being born and 6 babies died beforw reaching 8 weeks old. Whooping cough vaccine protects baby now ready for when they enter the world. I think people are too busy googling rather than speaking to health officials

Pros is your giving your new baby that much more of a chance to survive. Cons if you dont and your new born gets whooping cough your baby has an almost 0 chance to survive. Im getting my shot, so is husband, kids, grandparents and aunts and uncles who want to see my baby before she gets her shot at 2 months. I recommend calling your health department or doc and ask about how the disease is going where you live. Find out if its running rampid or if theres been no cases in a long while.

I got the flu shot abd whooping cough vaccine. My child also got her 2,4 and soon to be 6 month vaccinations. My husband had to get all the vaccines as well being in military. I will always vaccinate. Truthfully, it's all personal preference. everyone's going to have th their own opinions. You do what you feel is right for you and your child. Good luck mommas!

Oh, and my BF who is a OBGYN mentioned that the only maternal death she'd had in this country was due to complications with the flu...might be worth reconsidering your stance on flu shots.

I actually asked all the pediatrician and doctors I know. I got a ton of medical papers all on effacy and safety of vaccines. Every single medical person I talked to supported them vigorously and several had cases where they had lost someone to the flu or whooping cough. I personally think it is a shame that my child might get a disease that was eradicated in this country simply because of some fear mongerers. If you are worried about the side effects, then one side effect of not is the very real chance your child might die if you don't. Seems easy to me. No one is allowed in my house without TDaP this year!

I am in the same boat... flu vaccine is so ineffective and dangerous. Whooping seems like it may have an actual benifit, but then I read that most babies don't get it until after 6 months, when the vaccine wouldn't protect anyways.

I got my flu shot and both my husband and I will get the whooping cough vaccine when it's time. Baby gets the benefits of the antibodies to protect them more when they get here. Yes there are risks, but in my opinion it is not worse than the disease.

I do not get any vaccines and neither will my child. Period. I would suggest doing research on this subject. So many people assume they are safe.

Here is a good place to start:
