whooping cough

I have been advise by my doctor to get the whooping cough shot. I'm having trouble deciding if i should. I usually don't get shot like flu or etc.. my baby is due in January and u dint want to harm him by getting it or by not getting it. Is there any mom's who had had the shot now or during a previous pregnancy?

Definitely reccomend getting it, evennif youve had it in the last two years, whooping cough is a horrible thing and even worse for a helpless child x

I got the shot my daughter has a compromised immune system from having chemotherapy and I couldn't imagine giving her any type of illness. So I get them every year to prevent illness. Plus it good because yur baby will build up immunity to the virus. And won't actually need the shot themselves

I would get it if it were me.  Helps baby to start building immunities inudero.  I forgot while I was pregnant and they gave it to me right before leaving the hospital.

The tDap vaccine is good for two years, however it's suggested that you receive it every pregnancy. It won't harm your baby. I elected to refuse it during this pregnancy since I had it the month prior to me conceiving. it was required since I'm a nurse. But it does hurt a little while after the injection. So if you've  had it within the last 2 years you should be covered

I also got the shot for whooping cough but not the flu shot. My doctor says that she is for vaccines that thwy know what they are treating and that a newborn can't be treated for whooping cough until after 2 months old. They suggest it every pregnancy because you as the mother produce antibodies that pass thru the placenta to the baby to protect them.

I got mine about two weeks ago. My dr said it is recommended in the beginning of the third trimester as it protects mom and helps the baby as well since they get a little of the vaccine. Since they are to tiny to get it the first few months.

I got mine a couple days ago.  I told the doc I'm up to date on all my shots and I got the pertussis shot a couple years ago and it's good for 10 years but she said they're suggesting it to all pregnant women to get it every time they're pregnant no matter how often. I think the benefits outweigh the risks so I went ahead and got it.

I got mine at the hospital when I had my baby. I had whooping cough a few years back because I wasn't vaccinated and I can't imagine a new born getting it so I didn't even.think twice about getting it. If I was almost passing out and on bed rest from it as a teenager, how would a tiny little body handle it?!
