It is, but isn't. It really depends on your cycle length and when you ovulate. Many women assume that because they have sex on or at the end of their period it's not likely, but because sperm can survive for up to 7 days it can sometimes last long enough to catch an egg. Overall the odds aren't high, but it's always better to assume it will happen no matter when you have sex and just use protection with each encounter.
Thanks for your help. I took the Plan B just in case in connection with the second encounter. To be sure, I read on the company website that in the event that you take it after the egg has already been fertilized there are no health risks to the baby. There is a better chance from the March 23 encounter even though I was having my period? I thought the risk during that time was also very low.
well if you had sex 4 days before your period you are most likely not at risk for pregnancy. no one can say for sure, and sometimes your cycle can be off....but your chances are far lower. You have a much better chance from the March 23 encounter. Go ahead and take a pregnancy test today and you should get a fairly accurate result letting you know one way or another. If your period starts, no problem...if it doesn't, most likely it would be the March 23 encounter that got you pregnant.
Let me know what the test says - you can get some fairly accurate ones for $1 at the dollar store, but I recommend First Response or ClearBlue.
good luck
also - if you period does show up, no you are not pregnant from the 2nd encounter. your period is your body's way of flushing out the unfertilized egg and if you HAD gotten pregnant your period would not arrive.
