Positive test at home, negative at the doctors

I'm a week late and I took a few home pregnancy tests. The positive lines were faint but definitely there. I went to my doctors and her urine test was negative. She sent me for a blood test and am waiting for the results. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm 39.

I have heard of many women having this happen. The home test is positive and the test at the doctor's is negative. Although the chances of a false positive is rare, a false negative is actually common. Some times the tests that are used are not sensitive enough. If they drew blood then they honestly don't believe the urine results they got and want to see if there is a chance. You should have gotten your results the same day they drew blood.
