Heartbeat and early pregnancy

I just had an ultrasound a couple of days ago,..... ended up being an internal ultrasound,, guess I wasnt as far along as I thought.. Although my calculations show I should be almost 8 weeks now.....
Unable to detect heart beat yet.... I'm assuming via ultrasound and what I was told, I was almost 6 weeks!!!
How can I be out 2 weeks if going by a period...
When normally can the heartbeat be detected? I thought around 6 weeks!

I had a ultrasound at 5weeks 3days and there was a fetal pole and heart beat! should see a heart beat at 5 1/2 weeks through vaginal ultrasound . The first ultrasound u have is the best way to date the pregnancy as time goes on the dates become more off . So ur first ultrasound should be a great indicater of pregnancy if dates r off either u miss caculated or the pregnancy is not progressing. They should do a follow up. Ur hcg levels can tell a great deal also about the preg. Good luck I hope everythings turns out ok n that u might of jus mis caculated..
