My 2 hour GTT came back abnormally high, so I did the 3 hour/4 blood tests GTT last week. My OB said my blood sugar is so high that I will more than likely need insulin. I'm going to see an Endocrynologist this Wednesday. I've been trying to follow a gestaional diabetes diet plan I found online, and since I have been limiting sugar and carbs for the past 6 days, I have lost 6 pounds.
My total pregnancy weight gain is now only 11 pounds and I'm 30 weeks 3 days pregnant. I had gained 17 pounds prior to this, and my OB was happy with that. I didn't gain much weight during the first trimester and had morning sickness all the time so my OB told me I needed to add more glucose to my diet. I was loving having a scoop of vanilla ice cream every day!
Also, I have a posterior low lying placenta which has caused some bleeding and spotting since week 25, so I'm not suppose to exercise (which is recommended for gestational diabetes). I'm a teacher and I walk around all day every day, but I try to stay off my feet when I can.
Now I'm afraid I'm not eating enough. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!
