Completely stupid question and I feel like an idiot....

I've posted this in the Pregnancy 35+ forum, as well...but thought afterwards, that this would be better since we're all at about the same place in our pregnancies...

I'm trying to do the math on my pregnancy and this is going to sound ridiculous, but I don't really 'get' how far along I am...I mean, I know that I am 24 weeks and 2 days, but translating it...

24 weeks divided by 4 weeks = 6 months
October to Feb (due date) = 4 months

That would have me at a 10 month pregnancy?!?!?

Also, if I am 6 months...wouldn't month 1, 2 and 3 be the first trimester and month 4, 5, and 6 be the second, so shouldn't I be in the third now? But everything that I am reading says that the third trimester doesn't start until 28 weeks....

I can't believe I am 38 years old, a college graduate and owner of my own businesses, but can't seem to figure out my own pregnancy....

Thanks, in advance, for any help! :)

"Pregnancy" actually is medically calculated beginning on the first day of your last menstrual cycle. So in reality, by the time conception happens, you're calculated at two weeks pregnant.
So really, the development of the fetus is two weeks behind your gestational age. So if you are 24 weeks pregnant, that is your gestational age, but your fetal age is 22 weeks.
In that case, it has been approximately six months since the first day of your last menstrual cycle, but only about 5½ months since you conceived.

Not all moths have four weeks, it is really 4.3.....which if you are 24 weeks you are in your sixth month, second trimester.  Everything I have read says the seventh month, 3rd trimester begins at 27 weeks.  Pregnancy counts as 40 weeks, not 36 weeks.  I jut learned that once i became pregnant so you aren't clueless.  :)
