Short femur length & stress

So we went for our regular OB appointment and the OB said that the femur length was "marginally" short in proportion, so they're sending me for a repeat u/s in 3 weeks.  I looked it up online and it appears to be a marker for downs.  I'm freaking out.  Why would the OB wait 3 weeks to re-measure?

On top of that, my dad was admitted to ICU with pulmonary edema.  I've been up since 4am and can't sleep.    Oh yeah, and I think I'm coming down with a cold.  My throat is sore and I've been snoring up a storm at night which also means that I can't visit my dad in case of transmission.

Your baby is fine. I agree, stay off of the internet. I am sure all of his growth will even out.

I spoke with the OB's office and the secretary who gets to manage us crazy pregnant women all day long said, "I wish you guys would stay off of the Internet!!!!!"  She said that if the doctor had any serious concerns that she would call me or have me come in.  She said that if ANYTHING the least bit unusual shows up on the u/s, including if the baby wouldn't open it's fist or they couldn't get a good view of something, that they are obligated to send you for a follow-up u/s.  I felt much better.  Not to mention that my dh was so supportive and basically said that no matter what the outcome, it doesn't matter, it's our baby and we'll deal with it, no matter what it needs.  So I'm much calmer about that.

As for my Dad, he's still in ICU, but doing much better.  He should be out of ICU tomorrow.  My Mom's pretty calm about it, so that also makes me feel better. Obviously she's stressed, but not freaking because his prognosis is good so far.

I now have a full blown cold :-(  I feel miserable,but that's ok because it's not the flu and I don't have a fever, just stuffed up sinuses.  I'll have to get one of those neti pots that Dr. Oz talks about to clear out my sinuses.  Anyone else ever used one?

Oh hun, I'm so sorry you have so much going on right now. I have no idea why your OB would wait so long to remeasure... maybe to allow time for growth?? I don't know much about this, but I do know that I have heard quite a few women talk about markers for downs and have their babies turn out just fine.
As far as your dad, I hope that he is better soon, and you as well so that you can go visit him. Maybe call your OB and see if there is anything you can take (I've always wondered if it was safe to take like Airborne or something since its just vitamins to help us preggos get over colds quicker), or drink lots of OJ and chicken noodle soup (as my grandma would say) so that you can kick this quicker.
