Flu is not that bad normally. But when you are pregnant you can become chronically ill. Which could put your child at risk. I want to do what is best for my baby and not listen to scare storys
Flu shots can contain thimerasol which is a mercury derivative and formaldehyde...among other ingredients I wouldn't want in my sysgem. I chose to not inject that into my system. Especially when a baby is developing inside me. Each to his own.
I have nothing against vaccines, I just didn't want to inject myself with the toxins and such while pregnant. I guess it's a "who knows" thing. The flu really isn't that bad anyway. To each their own :)
Could you please post a link to your source material where you claim "there is a high risk of fetal demise from the flu shot during pregnancy"? That is so the opposite of what the Centers for Disease Control information and the American Pregnancy Association says, I'd like to know the reliability of the source.
You shouldn't worry about skipping a flu shot while pregnant. There's a high risk of fetal demise from the flu shot during pregnancy, and it's not one that I'm personally willing to take. I'd so much rather have the flu and not be pregnant, than risk baby's life. If you want a flu shot, go ahead and get one, it's just up to you as to when you do it. Remember though that they are made more for those with weaker immune systems - elderly, sick, or children - and you still run the same risk of getting the flu.
As for the Whooping Cough vaccine, you need to get that. As well as anyone else who plans on being around baby frequently. Husband, grandparents, friends - if you plan on having more than just a few people in and out on a regular basis, make sure they all get it. Pertussis can be fatal in tiny ones.
I didnt get it and ive had the flu since being pregnant i want to get the whoping cough injection tho need to ring up my doctors about that today
I run to the surgery to get my flu jab when my partner brought the flu bug from work. I still went through a bad cold with runny nose and sore throat but I didn't have any flu symptoms. Now I need to get my whooping cough jab not to protect myself but to protect the baby for the first 6 months before she can have her jab.
Apparently it is going to be a bad year for the flu. I got a flu shot while pregnant, it is strongly recommended by all the sources and I couldn't find any that thought it would be dangerous (and I read up on it). Pregnant women are considered one of the three most vulnerable populations for getting the flu (children, the elderly, and pregnant women). I think 14 children have died from the flu so far this year. I sure wouldn't want to have the flu when pregnant, why add a reason to feel miserable and achey?
But that is me, and you have your own bodily autonomy. You must do what you think is best for you.
