Thanks for everything ladies!
If you are working for a big company (like Arco or Chevron) you are in a protected class. If the gas station is a mom-and-pop place with 4 employees and is not owned by a big company, you are not in a protected class. In other words, it is possible for a company to be too small to have to comply with various workplace laws because it would be enough of a hardship for them that they might not be financially able to do what the law would have a bigger company do. But if this is a big corp, you're protected.
Take the job and do your best. Go into orientation on Friday and let them know your availability. You are a protected class because you are pregnant. Don't stress and I know how you feel. I was climbing the corporate ladder till I got pregnant and now I have to watch people move ahead of me and I know it is because I am pregnant. It is frustrating that's for sure. I am in charge of hiring and I hire the right person for the job period. I don't care if that person is pregnant or not. I know not all people are like that. Trust me take the job and if you lose because you give birth oh well at least you got a little something in your pocket before the little one comes :) good luck!!
Just been looking for a job since i moved and really need this and im already hired just going to my orientation on friday
But its just a cashier position at a gas station,my mom had said the same thibg that legally i dont need to tell them and its somthing thats not strenuous on my or my little one. I just know most places wont hire an 8th month preggo lol
I only wanted time off enough to still be able to come back of course
Legally you do not have to tell them and it is discrimination to with hold a job because of pregnancy. With that said you are not covered by fmla on a new job, you only get that after a year of employment. How long do you plan on being out and what type of job is it?
I'm sure they noticed but you should tell them anyways. You don't want to start out on the wrong foot. Plus if it doesn't work out now, maybe they will welcome you back at a later date.
