Well my cervix length is barely 2cm. It was 3 something 2weeks ago. I'm wondering how fast things will go downhill. I'm getting checked Tuesday to se if I'm still dialated 2cm as well or if that got worse too.

Dont be silly - not to many questions... I was on hosptial bedrest with my DD for 15 weeks - everything medically that could be done was....  from what I remember about the dynamic cervix the non stress test us lasted much longer than a regular one which they watched my cervix for a continious 20 mins - that is how they saw the changes.. everyother us I have only looks at the cervix for 5 mins tops... I tend not to be a very good patient so my dr did not send me home with meds to stop the contractions because they knew if I had them I would just take them when they started and not say anything to them in fear of ending up in the hospital like the 15 week stay... so this way I have to call and them tell them about any contractions to get the meds called in.  They are thinking about pulling the stitch - but that might cause more dialation - they wont tighten or redo because of the risk of poking the sac because she is so low.. it is just a waiting game at this point.  I am about to head back to the high risk drs in an hour for a vaginal us to see if my cervix has shortened anymore... but i don't think it has (hopefully!)

See its hard to really give advice when every doc has there own methods and routine tht they follow. Everybody has there own opinion and sometimes it makes it very confusing because it could be somebody thats in the same exact situation as you but have different doctors that will do different things who way is really right ??? Thats what I wonder sometime. Now could somebody have a dynamic cervix and they diagnose it or you can only find out through a non stress test.So since you are open what will they do can they go back and tighten the stitch or maybe at this point it will be too risky? with your dd you say yu was 3 to 4 cm for 15 weeks tht was a long time to be holding him off for so maybe even though your opening again you can hold the baby for some weeks your farther then 19 weeks..For the contractions you are having are they giving you any medicatiion to control them or even stop them ?? srry if im asking too many questions

Honestly - I am kind of against the whole manual checking thing myself.  My Drs refused to do it with my son 5 years ago and I had a cerclage - they said they did not want to start anything up and started checking me at 33 weeks.... I have been manually checked since 18 weeks or so with a us on the off weeks.  I also agree with you on the FFN test - if it were positive - it would just be like everyone else that is positive.  I think the dr meant that if it were negative I could still go into labor in 2 weeks because I go so fast.  With my DD I was 3 to 4 cm for 15 weeks (19 weeks through 32) - contracting the whole time.. large purposeful contractions with little or no pain.  Then around midnight I had a really large one that hurt - got up.. peed had another one which felt like she was falling out.  Laid back down put the monitor on had another - total of 3 contractions that I felt were painful - dr checked me and I was more than 8cm - emergancy csection... DS we scheduled csection - he was not budging... This one I have had the shots since 17 weeks - contractions a few a day- that take my breathe away but usually I am just crampy...Went in 2 weeks ago Dr sent me to L&D because he thought the cerclage was out -the resident (who mind you is probably 25 years old vs my 50 year old dr) said she was not sure if the stitch was in or out- sent me home.  Two week later - manual check again and 2 cm dialated with stiched pulled 3 out of the 4 places (I am out on the 3:00, 6:00 and 9:00 positions)  I have the incompentent cervix, preterm labor and also a dynamic cervix... the dynamic cervix is the one that scares me... it has only been diagnosed through a non stress test where they are doing the us for 20 plus mins... my cervix opens, closes, shortens, enlongates for no reason all day long... I had the leep too - so the longest my cervix can be is a little less than 4cm... last measurement I was 3.2cm for length - but I am open.  sorry for rambeling...

I was suppose to be having the 17p shots but my doc waited to long to put the order in with my insurance so they denied it so I guess thats out but so far I hafent seem to need them ma cervix was never less then 3.6 since the cerclage and yea some doc thinks tht its not accurate because it can give a false positive because of the cerclage but my doctor thinks tht it cant be wrong with a negative result so as long as they keep coming back negative then everythings alright but I havent had any contractions so far when did yu start having contractions ??? I wonder whhy there checking you manually if you have a cerclage my doc would never check me manually because she said tht you never want to distrub the cervix its already weak since you got a cerclage so why even distrub it even more by them sticking there hands in there but one of my friends had too many checks maually and they broke her bag of water so just be carefull nd your in my prayers

Sounds wonderful!!! I had my cervix length checked bi weekly by us and the other weeks manually - the last us said everything looked good and stitch was in.  My dr manually checked me Tuesday night and it turns out the stitch is still there but not in.  It is sutured at 12:00, 3:00, 6:00 and 9:00 on the cervix - I am pulled out at 3, 6 and 9...I guesss you can say I am hanging on by a thread!!  My external part of the cervix is dialated 2 cm and they only know because of the manual exams (not that I recommend them because the heavy, intense exams I had Tuesday started wicked contractions wedensday that were less than 5 min apart) so then I had endocine to stop them and then the babys heartrate was at 160 then to 110 then 180 to 114.... but all has quieted now.. I am at home - going back in 2 weeks for another lenght us.... are you on the progesterone shots too??  Oh - my high risk dr mentioned something to me regarding the FFN test... he said that it is not all that accurate in people with a cerclage... not to scare you - but maybe you can ask for clarification or what you dr thinks... Good luck and please let me know how things go..... I will probably be on here often since I have to sit at home for the next 6 weeks!
