Insomnia anyone?

I was wondering if anyone else is struggling with insomnia? Honestly Im a sleeper by nature. I never have trouble falling or staying asleep but in the last few weeks ugh. It takes ages to fall asleep and then I keep waking up. The other night it was 10 times during the night. Im exhausted truly but I cant seem to get any rest. Any ideas?

So glad Im not alone on this! Whew! I will mention it to my dr when I see her on Friday to see if she has any suggestions. The last couple of nights have been better since I havent been waking up as much. It still happens but 3 times a night is much better than 10! Ill try to relax and not worry so much about it I guess. Doesnt help that the bf snores like a freight train either lol

Unfortunetly it is a very common symptom of pregnancy. And it only gets worse towards the end! Try having a snack in the middle of the night and an afternoon walk.

Oh yes!!! That is one of my main symptoms! I fall asleep okay, but I wake up around midnight wide awake. And, sometimes even hungry!!! I'll get up and eat a snack, hop on the computer and then head back to bed.

I think a lot of it is the worrying that I can't get out of my head. But, I also think just being pregnant is causing me to have insomnia too! Just know you're not alone when you're laying there at 2 a.m....lol!! If you find a trick, let me know. ;)

I'm right there with you. I always have that problem in pregnancy. I've had a couple of really bad nightmares in the past couple of nights too that are just so vivid that it's crazy! Sometimes I'll drink a half a cup of warm milk with honey and nutmeg. It seems to work sometimes.

I always say it's our bodies way of preparing for after the baby's born LOL

I don't really have any suggestions other than warm milk and maybe gentle exercise before bed (yoga/stretching). It's fairly normal because your hormones and body are changing so rapidly right now, but you may want to talk to your doctor so that he's aware of it. There are medications they can give you later in the pregnancy that will help if you are still having trouble, and sleep is VITAL during pregnancy, especially because the quality and quantity of sleep will diminish as you get farther along (generally). By your due date you will most likely hardly be sleeping, so you want to sleep as much as possible in the first two trimesters. Just don't stress out about it so much; sometimes I find that if I'm freaking out about not getting to sleep or waking up too much, it makes the sleep problems worse. If you keep waking up just get up for a little while and occupy yourself...read a book, watch tv, drink a glass of water, and then try going back down and see if you can't get a longer stretch of sleep. Just try not to let it bother you so much, but make your doctor aware of it so he can help you with suggestions :).
