Of course you don't:( I had al mine premature and they came eearlier each time. 36, 35,30 and 23 weeks is when I had them all. My 23 weeker did not make it as she was not 24 full weeks so they would not help her, she lived for almost 3 hours though. My 30 weeker had the celestone shots and came home in 14 days but that is not typical they said. I am thinking about ya and hope you make it! SOunds like they should of used a cerclage this time around on you to help hold you shut! Have they mentioned progesterone shots to you?? IF you read on the american accadamy of obstetrics and march of dimes (type in progesterone in the search engine) it shows that the shots helps close back the cervix and keep it it from opening further and helps with pre term labor contractions.

I was dilated a fingertip with my second son at 26 weeks then at 29 weeks I was almost 2 then at 31 1/2 weeks I was 3 then 34 weeks 5 and had him and I had the shots to develop the lungs with my second pregnancy when they put me in the hospital for 10 days and I have a feeling this one will be born around 30 to 34 weeks I just hope not sooner then that my first was in the hospital for 3 months after he was born at 28 weeks so I don't want that to happen again

I had pre term labor from 16 weeks on with all 4 last pregnancies and never dialated but delivered early with all 4. My cousin as well as their mom and her two sisters dialate early around 26 weeks to like 3-4 but end up going till 36-39 weeks. So dialation can be OK. I would suggest the progesterone as that can "undialate" you and treat both contractions and incompitent cervix. I am on the shots like "MELKA76" is. I actuall did dialte with my first at 16 weeks to 2cm and they stopped the contractions and then I closed back up so you could do the same. I would not worry about delivering early as there are meds they can give you to help and bed rest of course will help keep pressure off your cervix. Lets think positive right now and taek it a day at a time!!! When you go back to your OB also ask about celestone shots to deelope the babies lungs just in case. They ahve to be given 2 shots each 24 hours aprat and can help if yu go into labor in the next week or so. and they can be repeated later also. So there are safe guards! get some movies to watch to keep your mind off things and get some projects you can do from bed for the baby or yourself like face masks, nail polish etc.... Laughing helps keep stress hormones down so invite someone over that can make you laugh or watch a comedy you haven't sen in forever:) Wirte with anything you would like to us even if off topic, we know what bed rest is like!!! Take Care

It really depends... I was 3cm and full effaced at 19 weeks - delivered at 32 weeks..(bed rest in the hospital for 15 weeks) .I contracted through my DS pregnancy and he was full term - 38 weeks...(went on bed rest at home for 8 weeks) Did they mention to you a cerclage at this point?  I have one in with this pregnancy as my last - and I still contract -but not as bad... I also get shots of progesterone... did they suggest that either?  The progesterone is helping the preterm labor contractions and cerclage to help keep my cervix closed... I am not sure how long it will last for me - but I have made if further with this pregnancy with no serious issues than in my two previous... Drink plenty of water - empty your bladder often and relax... I always felt like bed rest was a "jail sentence" but at least it has an end date that really is not that far along... Good Luck!!
