does anyone else have wait 8weeks just for a confirmation appointment?

I'm being impatient, I switched doctors and they will not see me until I'm 8 weeks, just to have my pregnancy confirmed when I know I'm already pregnant. I just want skip the first appointment all together and get a scan.

Totally normal. Earlier than that there are too many unknowns & you can't see enough. I went earlier because I'm high risk & seeing a high risk specialist...but...that's a different story. Regular OBGYNs won't see you before that for a confirmation appointment.

It just kinda ***** cuz I've known since I was three weeks. I KNOW I'm being inpatient. I'm just getting anxious. WELL at least my new doctor has a scan in the office, with my other doctors they didn't do blood work or have scan. I'LL BE 6 WEEKS TOMORROW... Now I JUST have to wait A LITTLE OVER TWO WEEKS FOR  My CONFIRMATION APPOINTMENT. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE. :)

I thought that was stupid too! I found out thru a home pregnancy test i was pregnant at like 3 weeks.. for the next few days i tested daily n kept getting positives, so i figured okay call the doc ... because everything i read said to set up a doc appt right away. They told me that the doc wouldn't see me till 6-8the weeks... so my first appt is this friday.. ill be like 7 weeks n 2days. But i agree..they say the first 2-3 montha r the most crucial with brain development etc...youd think the doctors would wanna confirm a pregnancy n do some education early on.

I had my first appointment today which was a "hi, how are you?" Type session. First scan isn't until 12 weeks (if the letter arrives this time!) My actual booking appointment where I can talk to a midwife about more than my due date isn't until 10 weeks... Gotta love the UK system!! I would love to have a scan about now (7 weeks) just to know all is well! Hope your 8 weeks isn't far off for you.

I think almost everyone has to wait until 8 weeks. A girl I know went to the emergency room complaining of cramps and she is only one week later than me and has had 3 ultrasounds already and my first isn't for 3 weeks! It can be frustrating but take your vitamins and know that if you went now it isn't going to even look like a baby! Getting a scan will not make your baby more viable or your pregnancy safer, just go with the flow and enjoy it.

Nah that's how doc usually work unless your high risk. You need to get blood drawn to confirm to make sure your hcg levels are were they are supposed to be
