16 weeks, no kicking yet?

Hi guys. I'm 16 weeks 2 days today and don't think I've felt any fetal movement yet. I *think* the other night I felt a flutter and a bubble pop feeling, but that was about a week ago and nothing since.
Should I be feeling more by now???
I have my appointment tomorrow - they won't do an ultrasound until the end of the month, but I'm sure we'll listen for heartbeat etc.
For some reason I have the jitters. I am always so scared that they won't find a heartbeat or something terrible at my visits (so far both visits before have been fine). I'm just nervous tonight - and since I'm not feeling kicking, I'm just scared the little bub is not OK.
Any words to ease my mind! I am a nervous wreck!  xo, Heather

My appointment went well. Heartbeat was found and was at 152 bpm which is a nice strong number. My doctor said it's common to really feel things between 18-22 weeks so not to worry. I have my 18 week ultrasound on January 27 and cannot wait!

I am 5 foot 8 and pre-pregnancy was about 135 and now I'm about 145. I'm not stick thin but don't have too much padding either - well now i have a hard round belly forming, lol. I have felt some things that were probably the bub, but I attributed to other things. Hopefully I'll feel some movement in the next couple of weeks!

i am not real sure how much build really has to do with how soon you feel movements...with my youngest child i was 270 when i felt him move at 16 weeks....the first flutters...and i was around 245 when i was 16 weeks this time, and still havent felt it. so not sure how much build really has to do with it....but if it your first then that DOES have something to do with it, because you never know if you mistook baby movements as gas....lol

anyhow good luck and let us know how your appt went.

WIth first pregnancies, most women don't feel anything until around the 18-20th week. As suzie said, it depends on your built (mainly how much fat around your belly as well) and the positioning as well especially of your placenta. I'm quite petite and I already felt the baby moving around 10 days ago. I'm 18wks 2 days today. If everything is OK with your ultrasound, then I wouldn't be worried until perhaps after the week 22. Remember, everyone is different!

i am almost 20 weeks and really dont feel anything yet....there are good heart tones and so the doctor isnt too concerned at this time. but if by my next appt (feb 11) i dont feel anything much, then we would be worried. position of baby and placenta i guess makes a HUGE differance to what you feel and how/where you feel it.

good luck

I totally depends on how you are built and where the baby is sitting.  I am lucky because I am only 5' tall so the baby doesn't have anywhere to go but forward.  The baby is also very close to the surface with the placenta on the back side.

It's pretty normal with your first not to notice kicking for a while.  With my son I didn't notice him kicking really until 20 weeks, and even then it was sporadic.  At the end of the pregnancy, he was turning cartwheels I think.  Don't worry I'm sure everything is fine.

hey ! most of the time when you think its gas its actually the baby and then on the other hand it could be gas... Its sometimes hard to detect which is what.. but I am 16 weeks and i must have a soccer playing inside me cause he/she is in my back kicking but dont stress on it too much.. the further along we go the more we will feel and can know the difference
