Ultrasound at 5 weeks?

Hi all,

We just found out were pregnant with a urine stick test at home. I went to my GP, who is a bit strange at times, and he refused to do a blood test to confirm it. I was a little frustrated. He says I am high risk so wants me to have an ultrasound instead at the end of this week. I will be 5 weeks and 5 days. Have any of you seen much at this stage? I don't really want to go for at least another 2 weeks but will go since he's told me too. Worried I'll get disappointed that there's nothing to see.

Thanks!

If you don't mind me asking, why are you high risk?

Thanks guys. I've had some cramping so I've decided to have the ultrasound this Friday. Might make me a feel a little more at ease at least about things like ectopic etc;

Yes I am high risk too they saw a gestational sac with yolk. Which is early but a good sign.  Good luck

If you can wait a few more days, I would. I went in on Thursday at 5 weeks 5 days and now I wish I wouldn't have because now I'm freaking out!! We did see the gestational sac and yolk sac, measuring perfectly at 5 weeks, 5 days. We did not see the fetal pole and that is what has me extremely worried now. I know it is pretty normal not to see it until 6 weeks, but I'm scared. Now I have to sit and worry until my next ultrasound at 10 weeks!! If it's possibly to push it back a couple days I would, otherwise just go into knowing you might not see the fetal pole. Good luck!!

I think if you are certain you are at least 5 weeks and 5 days, you can expect to see something.  If there is any doubt (say if you are only really 5 weeks 0 days), it might be too early, since you can't see much then.  But if he says to go, I'd go.  Good luck!
