Baby Lillian has arrived!

I just thought I'd give a quick update.

Baby Lillian was born on Thursday 09/04 at 11:38 pm.  She was 20" long and weighed a whopping 9 lbs 4 ozs!!

Long story short:  I had mild contractions Wednesday morning that only lasted about 3 hours, but then the real thing started Thursday morning at 6:00 AM.  I didn't go to the hospital until 6:00 PM (I saw my OB for an 11:00 AM appt... I was 4 cm dilated then, but my contractions were still 10 minutes apart, so I opted to stay home for the "gentler" part of labor).  I ended up being in labor for 15 hours... pushing for 2 hours... and finally I was told that there was no way the baby was going to come out vaginally, so I'd need to have a c-section.  Because she was so big and b/c she was facing up (she wasn't breech.. her head was in the right position, but she should have been facing down towards my tailbone) there was no way she was going to fit through my pelvic area.  The doctor told me that there was nothing I could have done differently... my pushing was perfect... she just couldn't fit.  The c-section went smoothly... there was quite a bit of merconium in the amniotic fluid, so they had to pump her stomach, but other than that she came out a perfectly healthy baby!

I'm exhausted... I hurt quite a bit from the incision... I'm pretty sure my DH and I are hallucinating from lack of sleep (she's an angel during the day and the opposite at night... she apparently doesn't believe in sleeping once the lights go out)... BUT, I have never, ever been happier before in my life!  She is such a blessing... I'm in awe every time I look at her.

Good luck to all who have upcoming delivery dates!

wow! sounds like you and me are in the same boat! graham was born on sept 5th at 5:05 p.m. and weighed 10 lbs 1.1 oz! he sleeps all day and is awake most of the night too. i had to have a c section as well and thank god i'm healing well. i know exactly how you're feeling. i feel exhausted all the time and even had to ask my boyfriend's mom to watch the baby the second day we were home for 5 hours so i could get some sleep. don't worry things will get better. i'm so happy for you! we both have our little angels at home now and i have to say to me, it was worth it and still is.. good luck with your beautiful baby girl!!!
