Dr is billing me HELP!

Has anyone else experienced this?! This is my first pregnancy and I have BCBS insurance and after my first visit I received a bill for 2800 dollars. I called the office they said it was for delivery and postnatal care. Well my deductible for insurance is only 1250 and they didn't even file this with the insurance company because I called them. Are they allowed to do this?

Yes mine did the same...they start due monthly payments for those who cant afford the whole deductible at one time. In i have bcbs also but i have a really good plan so i only had to pay 287 i think. Everyone i talk to said it was normal n they usually pay a lot more than me

Talk to your insurance company.

A lot of medical practices bill ahead of time to allow you to set-up payment plans so that you're total bill at the end isn't so large. It is a common misconception that the office HAS to bill your insurance company on your behalf, they do not have to but many do in order to assure that they get paid. I would contact your insurance broker or employer for help. Also as for the bill amount vs. your deducible..... You need to look at your plan's "out-of-pocket" maximum amount as many plans have a co-insurance percentage after your deducible has been met. Chances are, that this bill is only for the Dr.'s "professional fee" and does not include any amount which will be incurred at the hospital or birthing center. Also, your little darling will start all over with their own deducible at birth unless your individual/family deducible/out-of-pocket max has been met. Hopefully this might help clear up any confusion.

No. You should fight it. You shouldn't be billed for delivery before you deliver. And they need to run your insurance.

You can always call your insurance and tell them about the bill, it's usually no problem.
But honestly idk if they're allowed to do that or not.
